“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.”1 PETER 5:7
✦ ✦ ✦
Father, we come to You tired, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise. You already know it. You knew it before we opened our mouths to say it.
Lord, for the week ahead — steady us. Where we are worn thin from carrying what wasn’t ours to carry, lighten the load. Where we’ve grown weary in well-doing, remind us that in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. Where community has felt more like burden than blessing this season, give us discernment to know the difference between the enemy’s discouragement and Your Spirit’s correction.
We ask for grace toward the people in our lives who are prickly, distracted, or hard to love this week — knowing full well we’ve been that person to someone else. Soften what needs softening. Protect our hearts from bitterness, and protect our tongues from gossip dressed up as concern.
Renew our strength like the eagle’s, Lord. Not because we’ve earned it, but because You are faithful even when we are running on empty. Let us rest in the truth that Your calling on our lives is not contingent on our performance — it was settled at the cross, and nothing this week can undo what was finished there.
Guard our homes, our work, our fields and flocks, and our families. Give us wisdom for every decision set before us. Give us courage where courage is required, and rest where rest is required — and the discernment to know which is which, day by day.
We commit this week to You — every hour of it — trusting that You go before us, and that Your mercies are new every morning.
Amen
