A reflection on learning to rest in God even when life feels unstable.
Uncertainty has a way of shaking us. Whether it’s news we didn’t expect, a season that feels too heavy, or a future we can’t clearly see, instability can leave us anxious, restless, and overwhelmed. We like having answers. We like having control. And when life doesn’t cooperate, peace can feel like something far away—something reserved for calmer seasons.
But God never intended for our peace to depend on our circumstances.
Peace is found in Him, not in what’s happening around us.
When Life Feels Out of Control
You might be facing a situation right now that you don’t have the strength to fix. Maybe it’s a financial uncertainty, a health concern, a strained relationship, or simply a sense that life is shifting in ways you didn’t see coming.
Let me tell you something gently:
You are not failing because you feel overwhelmed.
You are human—and God meets humans with grace.
Peace doesn’t mean pretending everything is fine. Peace means letting God hold the things you can’t.
God’s Presence Is Your Anchor
Peace begins the moment you pause long enough to remember:
God is here with you.
Not watching from a distance.
Not waiting for you to figure things out.
Not disappointed that you’re struggling.
He is with you—steadfast, unchanging, faithful.
God does not panic.
He does not worry.
He does not need a plan B.
And when you rest in the One who never changes, peace begins to rise in you—even when nothing else around you has changed.
Letting Go of What You Cannot Hold
Uncertainty often exposes how tightly we try to grip everything. We want control because control feels safe. But God invites you into something better:
Release. Surrender. Trust.
Not because the situation isn’t serious. Not because the outcome doesn’t matter.
But because He is stronger, wiser, and more loving than we can imagine.
Letting go doesn’t mean giving up—it means placing the weight in the hands of the One who can carry it.
Peace Grows When We Choose to Rest
Rest in God is not passive.
Rest is an act of faith.
It’s choosing to believe that God is working even when you cannot see it.
It’s choosing to breathe deeply when fear tries to tighten your chest.
It’s choosing to whisper, “Lord, I trust You,” even when you don’t have the answers.
And the beautiful thing about peace is this:
You don’t have to force it. God grows it in you as you lean into Him.
A Prayer for Peace
Heavenly Father,
In the middle of everything I don’t understand, I choose to rest in You.
Where my heart feels anxious, bring Your calming presence.
Where my mind feels overwhelmed, speak Your truth.
Where my future feels uncertain, remind me that You go before me.
Help me release what I cannot control and trust that You are working in ways I cannot yet see.
Fill me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.
Hold me close, steady my spirit, and let Your love anchor my soul.
In Jesus’ mighty name,
Amen.
